Siemens Energy will supply two variable speed drive (VSD) systems for the Shanjing III Yangqu station gas pipeline project in China's Shaanxi province and four centrifugal compressors for the Jining gas pipeline project in the east of China. The customer for both projects is China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) Materials.

The Jining pipeline will connect the West East gas pipeline I and Shanjing II gas pipeline. Tom Blades, oil and gas division CEO at Siemens Energy, said local content was a decisive factor, and the follow-up contract for Shanjing III was a result of a convincing performance on the earlier Shanjing I (three VSD systems) and Shanjing II extension (eight VSD systems) pipeline projects completed in 1997 and 2009 respectively.
