Expro obtained a US$50 million contract to supply a high rate well testing package and ancillary services for the Inpex-operated Ichthys LNG Project, near Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia.

Upon the terms of agreement, Expro will provide well testing, large bore subsea landing string, well intervention, fluid analysis and surface sampling services for a significant scope of development work with an initial phase encompassing more than 20 high rate gas production wells.

The project is set to begin in late 2014 and continue into 2017 to 2018.

Expro says the contract scope of supply includes a single train high rate well testing package incorporating Expro’s 175MMscf/d mega-flow recycling test separator and 7 in. ELSA LBEH - large bore landing string assembly, in addition to wet gas metering and wireline services in order to complete, clean up and prepare the wells prior to moving into the production phase.

The Ichthys LNG project is scheduled to begin production by the end of 2016. It will have an initial capacity to produce 8.4mtpa of LNG, 1.6mtpa of liquefied petroleum gas, and approximately 100,000bbl/d of condensate at peak production.

Earlier this week, JKC Australia LNT Pty Ltd. awardedthe joint venture comprised of Singapore-based AusGroup and Japan’s Meisei Industriala $172.5 million contract for on the onshore facilities of the Ichthys LNG project. The subcontract scope of work includes painting, surface protection, fireproofing and insulation works for lead contractor JKC. Work is expected to begin in March 2015 and will continue for 22 months until December 2016.

In September, Hydro Deck delivered the first modules for the Ichthys LNG project. Over the course of the project, Hydro Deck will offload more than 200 large, pre-fabricated modules from sea to ground, overcoming Darwin’s twice a day, up to 8m tidal variations.

Inpex operates the Ichthys project with 66.7% interest with partners Total (30%), Tokyo Gas (1.575%), Osaka Gas (1.2%), Chubu Electric Power (0.35%), and Toho Gas (0.42%).
