December 20, 2011

Cairn Lanka has made two discoveries in its 100% held Mannar Basin block SL2007-01-001, both predominantly gas bearing with some liquid hydrocarbon potential.

The first, CLPL Dorado-91H/1z, drilled in a water depth of 1354m, located a 25m hydrocarbon bearing sandstone interval from a measured depth of 3043m. Subsequently, CLPL-Barracuda-1G/1, 68km offshore, was drilled to a total depth of 4741m in a water depth of 1509m and encountered 24m of reservoir sandstone in three zones.

A third well in this three-well campaign remains.
