Petronas has contracted a consortium of Technip France, Technip Geoproduction and DSME for the procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) and management of the first commercial FLNG facility in Malaysia.
The 1.2mmtpa, 300m long x 60m wide FLNG vessel, to be moored about 180km off the coast of Bintulu, Sarawak, East Malaysia is scheduled for start-up by end-2015. It will play a significant role in the development of remote and stranded fields formerly deemed uneconomical. Hull engineering and construction of the FLNG facility will take place at DSME’s yard in Okpo, South Korea.
