PetroVietnam is reported to be preparing to conduct a feasibility study for a second natural gas pipeline in the Nam Con Son Basin, offshore southeast Vietnam, part of an oil and gas master development plan through 2015.

Upon anticipated completion in 2014, the pipeline will convey natural gas from blocks 05.1 and 05.2 to power plants in Phu My, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.

The Nam Con Son Basin’s first pipeline, built by BP for $1.3billion, currently supplies about 140 billion cu ft per annum, accounting for 32% of Vietnam’s domestic power generation.
