In this video, Shell shows the installation of the last of the topsides modules onto its Prelude FLNG, the world’s largest offshore floating facility, offshore Australia.

A total of 14 gas plant modules were built on a quayside at Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea, and then lifted on to a giant hull. The last of the modules was installed, and the Prelude is taking shape.

“Getting the last module is a real accomplishment by everybody. And from now on progress won’t be that visible, but on the other hand there’s a lot of work to do still,” Didrik Reymert, Prelude FLNG project director said.

The Prelude floating facility will liquefy natural gas at sea. Upon completion, Prelude FLNG will be the largest-ever floating facility. Once operational, the Prelude FLNG facility will produce at least 5.3 MTPA of liquids: 3.6 MTPA of LNG, 1.3 MTPA of condensate (equivalent to 35,000 b/d) and 0.4 MTPA of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

Prelude FLNG is the first of what Shell expects to be many FLNG projects, which will build on the company's existing capability and LNG leadership, Shell said.
