Chevron to exit Bangladesh

Chevron announced that its subsidiary, Chevron Global Ventures, has entered into an agreement to sell the shares of its wholly-owned indirect subsidiaries operating in Bangladesh to Himalaya Energy.

Chevron Bangladesh operates the Bibiyana field in block 12, the Jalalabad field in block 13, and the Jalalabad field in block 14. In 2015, net daily production from these assets averaged 720 Mcf of natural gas and 3000 bbl of condensate.

In late 2014, Chevron announced the start of production at the Bibiyana expansion project which included two gas processing trains, additional development wells, and an enhanced liquids recovery facility.

Discovered in 1989, the Jalalabad field went into production in 1999 and is currently the third highest gas producer in Bangladesh. The Moulavi Bazar gas field was discovered in 1999 and came on-line in 2005.
